Highly rated Irish teenager signs professional contract with Liverpool
Highly-rated Ireland under-17 international Trent Kone-Doherty has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool, the club have announced.
The 17-year-old joined the Reds from his hometown Derry City last year and made it through the Ireland Under-18s.
The promising winger scored 11 goals for Liverpool’s under-18s in his first season – including three in the UEFA Youth League – before injury curtailed his campaign prematurely.
His second season at the Anfield club was equally impressive, scoring on his U21 debut against Derby County last August and netting a hat-trick against Sunderland in the U18s earlier this month.
Kone-Doherty’s good form has not gone unnoticed – he was recently invited to train with Jürgen Klopp’s senior team.
