Chelsea beat Wolves 2-1 on Sunday afternoon and their poor run away from home continued. Chelsea’s poor finish could cost Mauricio Pochettino his job at the club. The Blues have missed a number of big chances so far this season and were equally remorseless in the 2-1 defeat by Wolves on Christmas Eve.
Since arriving at the club, Todd Boehly and others have racked up more than £1bn of new signings as they hope to restore Chelsea to European power. However, their funds seem to be wildly misused now. While Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer lined the silver lining at Stamford Bridge, Pochettino continues to work with players who are not at the level at which the Blues are expected to compete. However, Chelsea’s biggest problems come in the final third, as their current striker is incredibly wasteful in front of goal – costing the team valuable points. The Blues have missed 36 of their 57 big chances in the Premier League this season, more than any other club in England’s top flight.
