Chelsea have reportedly ruled out a move for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres after the star ruled out a potential move to Stamford Bridge in January.
After top target Victor Osimhen penned a new deal with Serie A club Napoli last week that will keep him there until 2026, the Blues have turned their sights on the former Coventry City star, who has been tearing up the Portuguese league this season.
The 25-year-old has already scored 10 goals and provided five assists and has now claimed he is more than happy to stay in continental Europe rather than return to English football. I think it’s a bit like when Sporting came to sign me. I’m very happy there and I don’t care about those who are interested now, Portugal’s record earlier this year, he said.
I enjoy every day here and don’t think about what is happening around me. Yes, we are talking about big clubs, but at the moment it is just news. Since then, according to Athletic, the Blues have now decided to look away from the star and are looking at other options as the January transfer window approaches.
Although many would argue that Mauricio Pochettino’s goalkeeping woes can be solved by simply beating Arsenal to land £100m man Ivan Toney in the winter, which of course is a lot easier said than done, as the Brentford star himself suggested. They are considering other options when they move to North London. One of them is RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko, a player who has been heavily touted in recent years but has made a big impact in recent months. Although he comes off the bench more often in the Bundesliga, he still scores important goals after scoring seven goals this season.
