Since a groin injury to seattle seahawks quarterback geno smith is questionable for sunday’s game against the san francisco 49ers at levi’s stadium, it seems he’s on the wrong side of questionable.
According to espn’s adam schefter, the seahawks are planning for smith to be a game-time pick for what the team claims is a “two-week injury.” “geno smith is dealing with a two-week injury to his groin, and while the seahawks qb wants to try to play through it, seattle isn’t supposed to decide on his availability for sunday’s game against the 49ers until pregame warmups,” schefter tweeted saturday night. Smith sustained the injury in practice on thursday, according to seahawks coach pete carroll. In recent weeks, he has been dealing with an elbow injury, but he hasn’t missed a game because of it.
Carroll said on friday, “he just tweaked his groin a little bit yesterday, just kind of stumbled over someone.”
Drew lock will make his first appearance as a seahawk if smith is unable to return. Smith has only played in two games this season since being hospitalized for injury.
In appearances with the new york giants and los angeles rams, lock went a combined 4 of 12 for 66 yards and one intercept. On friday, seattle also signed veteran quarterback sean mannion to the practice squad and promoted him to the active roster, which was likely a warning that smith’s future is in jeopardy.
