Liverpool and Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of Fluminense midfielder Andre.
Both Premier League clubs have been heavily linked with the Brazilian, who recently helped Fluminense win the Copa Libertadores for the first time in their history.
Liverpool tried to bring Andrea to Anfield in the summer, but Fluminense wanted to keep the Brazilian and his services for their Copa Libertadores campaign.
Although the move did not materialize ahead of the current campaign, the Reds remain confident of signing the 22-year-old as they look to recruit a holding midfielder.
Like Liverpool, Arsenal wants to add Thomas Partey to the middle of the park and his future uncertain.Bitterncourtand’s comments came after Andreandi’s agent, Carlos Leite, revealed that discussions had been held with the club regarding his client and his future.
Speaking to Ge.Globo, Leite said: andquot;He [Bittencourt] came to me and said that Fluminense is not interested in selling Andres this year.andquot;
andquot;I talked to the player, I explained to him and he understood the idea. We have agreed that it will only be traded from January 2024.
andquot;Actually there were several proposals [in the summer] that all came to me and I passed it on to Mario, but I was aware that there would be no negotiations.andquot;
Having come through the youth ranks of Fluminense, Andre made 161 appearances for the club, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
