LIVERPOOL INJURY NEWS: DIOGO JOTA

It’s the time of the season when the games are stacking up alongside the injuries. Liverpool is now under pressure after alisson becker and diogo jota came out of the match against manchester city worse for wear. Diogo jota was taken off in the 54th minute after clutching his left leg in pain.

The player will go through more tests this week to determine the cause of the problem. However, it is highly likely that he will miss at least the midweek game against lask and possibly fulham at the weekend. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious and he’s not in for a long layoff. Alisson becker would not have played midweek if caoimhin kelleher had been trusted in goal for the europa league.

However, kelleher could see even more action. Alisson didn’t go off against manchester city because he started to feel a muscle strain just minutes before the match, when the reds had used all of their subs. Jürgen klopp, however, revealed that he suffered a hamstring injury after the game. It didn’t incapacitate him, so it could indicate a minor injury. This week, he will be scanned at the axa training center to see if he’s ok.

Andy robertson is on the long-term injury list, but he won’t be back until at least january after a shoulder injury. Thiago alcantara and stefan bajcetic, the reds spanish contingent, continue their unlucky runs this season. Both of them are out indefinitely due to their respective injuries. The bench is starting to thin, particularly in areas such as left-back and goal. So far, robertson has done well, but he hasn’t won a lot of games. Liverpool will be in a real mess if only luke chambers is present.
