LIVERPOOL IS SET TO LOSE ‘OUTSTANDING’ PLAYER AS THE SQUAD GETS EVEN YOUNGER.

Liverpool are expected to continue freshening up their squad over the next 12 months, with joel matip expected to be the next experienced player to leave a field. At the end of the season, the defender will become a free agent, and there have been no indications that a contract extension is in the works, with a break in the future becoming more likely.

Over the summer, jurgen klopp made it his mission to give his ageing squad a new lease on life by rebuilding his midfield in a matter of months. Jordan henderson, james milner, fabinho, naby keita, and alex oxlade-chamberlain were all allowed to leave the club, with the reds investing significant money in their replacements.

Alexis mac allister, dominik szoboszlai, ryan gravenberch, and wataru endo all pledged their futures to klopp’s scheme, with the club lowering the average age of their squad significantly as a result. Liverpool is now focusing on adding youth to their backline, with academy product jarrel quansah the latest to do so. In the coming seasons, another young defender is expected to join merseyside, with matip expected to make his debut after his contract expires.
