REAL MADRID HAS PULLED A DEFENDER OUT OF THE VALENCIA MATCH BECAUSE OF A SUSPENSION.

Real madrid lost a crucial opportunity to reclaim la liga’s top spot on sunday night by drawing a goalless draw against local rivals rayo vallecano. Carlo ancelotti’s squad was unable to breach their opponents’ goal at the santiago bernabeu, putting them in second place in the standings behind girona.

Los blancos were not only disappointed with the result, but they also received a few warnings after the vallecano match. For starters, main man jude bellingham suffered an injury scare early in the game when he injured his shoulder after a fall and will undergo further tests today. Real madrid also suffered another blow thanks to antonio rudiger’s late yellow card against rayo vallecano. After an altercation with vallecano defender florian lejeune, the former chelsea centre-half was booked late in stoppage time.

The yellow card, however, was rudiger’s fifth of the season in la liga, putting him in a one-match suspension. Rudiger will now miss real madrid’s next match against valencia in la liga, leaving ancelotti with only david alaba and nacho fernandez as center-back options. This is certainly a blow considering that rudiger has been a permanent fixture in defense for the merengues this season and has churned out some impressive displays. Real madrid could face valencia in a small way as alaba has had a mixed campaign so far and nacho hasn’t played much lately.
