Heat guard Tyler Herro will no longer wear cleats, the team confirmed Monday, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Herro, who has been sidelined since Nov. 8 after spraining his right ankle, had to wear a boot for 10 days.
Assuming the initial plan is in place, he will be reevaluated this week. Reports after Herro’s injury suggested he could miss “several” weeks, so it would be surprising if he returns to the field anytime soon. However, it is encouraging that he now appears to be on the mend. Herro entered the initial season of the four-year, $120M+ extension he signed last year.
The 23-year-old was off to a strong start this season before his injury, averaging 25.3 points on .446/.410/.909 shooting in seven games (all sources) while grabbing 5.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists. night
