ESPN have now revealed that Djed Spence’s camp were left confused when Antonio Conte labeled him a “club signing” after the Italian himself convinced the right-back to join Tottenham Hotspur. The £20m Tottenham paid to sign Spence from Middlesbrough 18 months ago now looks like a bad investment after the Lilywhites allowed the right-back to join Genoa on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy for £8.5m.
However, the 23-year-old’s arrival at Hotspur Way was heavily touted at the time, with many excited by the youngster’s potential.
