Small issues need to be addressed, and only the most serious injuries are enough to keep such franchise starters out of action for significant periods of time.
T.J. Watt is one such player. It took a torn pectoral muscle that cost him seven games— and a likely playoff spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers — to sideline Watt in 2022.
On Sunday, Watt suffered another injury that has sidelined many players for weeks — but according to head coach Mike Tomlin, the star power forward plans to play through it.
It is not known exactly when it happened during Sunday’s game against but at some point in Pittsburgh17-10 victory over Baltimore, Watt dislocated his finger and tore several ligaments — but fought on for the 3-2 Steelers to take a share of the AFC North lead.
Watt will have another week to recover from this gruesome injury, as Pittsburgh has until Week 6 and won’t play again until October 22nd against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Steelers defense will need Watts impact and leadership to be critical factors in their huge win over the favored Ravens..
