Manchester city had an amazing 2023 season, but real madrid recently knocked them off the top of the deloitte money league.
Despite being knocked out of the champions league by pep guardiola’s treble winners, the spanish giants increased their revenues by £119 million thanks to increased sponsorship deals, strong retail success, and sellout crowds at the revamped bernabeu. On the field, city had a record year, but the biggest thing holding them back from a bigger increase is their matchday income. City matchday income is €83 million £71 million, said tim bridge, the lead partner in deloitte’s sports business group. but the question is how they can reach the €100 million revenue threshold, which is the threshold for clubs with new stadiums.
Real madrid and barcelona will be way over that figure in the future, and tottenham hotspur will be much over it now.
