“Proud Beyond Words” – Marquez Brothers’ Father Reacts as Sons Dominate 2025 MotoGP Season Opener

“Proud Beyond Words” – Marquez Brothers’ Father Reacts as Sons Dominate 2025 MotoGP Season Opener

The Marquez brothers have just stunned the MotoGP world, taking an emphatic one-two finish in the opening race of the 2025 season at the Thailand Grand Prix. Marc Marquez claimed victory, while his younger brother, Alex Marquez, delivered a sensational performance to finish second in both the Sprint and main race.

Their father, Julia Marquez, could not hide his emotions after witnessing this historic moment, calling it one of the proudest days of his life.

Marc Marquez’s victory was somewhat expected, given his strong showing during the pre-season tests at Buriram Circuit. However, Alex Marquez’s performance was the real surprise of the weekend. He was the fastest in the Practice session and carried that momentum into both races, even leading Sunday’s main event from lap 7 to lap 23.

Alex came agonizingly close to securing his maiden premier-class victory, but his older brother’s experience proved decisive in the final laps. Nevertheless, the younger Marquez secured his best-ever MotoGP result, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Speaking after the race, Julia Marquez expressed deep pride and joy at seeing both of his sons at the top of the podium.

“As you can imagine, a father could not feel greater satisfaction after this Grand Prix,” he said. “It’s a different feeling compared to the championships or victories they’ve had before. Seeing them both dominate the race is simply incredible.”

Julia also acknowledged that this moment surpassed the German GP last year when the Marquez brothers shared the podium for the first time—albeit in second and third place.

“I never dreamed of this. It was always their dream to reach MotoGP and fight for championships, but seeing them first and second in the premier class is beyond belief,” he admitted.

Throughout the 16 laps they rode close together, Alex in front and Marc right behind, there was no sign of reckless aggression. Their father dismissed any concerns about sibling rivalry leading to disaster on the track.

“I’m not worried about them crashing. They respect each other very much,” Julia said. “It’s up to them what happens on the track, but they always have mutual respect.”

Julia Marquez also shed light on his role as a father in the high-pressure world of MotoGP. While he is always there for his sons, he ensures he does not interfere in their professional decisions.

“I try not to get involved in their racing careers professionally. I am here to support them, but I give them their space,” he explained.

The emotional toll of seeing his sons dominate was evident as he concluded:

“Saturday was already special, but seeing them both at the front on Sunday touched my heart. It’s different when they win separately, but having them together at the top—it’s more special than anything.”

With the Marquez brothers setting the tone for the 2025 season, the rest of the MotoGP field now knows they have a formidable challenge ahead. If this opening race is any indication, the Marquez family may well be the story of the season.
