Married at First Sight Australia’s Paul Antoine has finally spoken out about the scandal that shook the experiment and his life wide open.
In an emotional and unfiltered interview, Paul addressed the now-infamous ‘door-punching’ incident that played out on screens and sent shockwaves through the MAFS fanbase. The groom, whose relationship with bride Carina Mirabile crumbled under the weight of mounting tension, claims the moment was “blown out of proportion” and shaped by a ruthless edit.
“I wasn’t the monster the public saw,” Paul confessed.
According to the groom, the footage failed to capture the full context of what happened, painting him as an aggressor while leaving out key details that, he says, would have changed public perception.
The scandal not only torpedoed his romance with Carina, but also left his reputation in tatters. Paul admits their connection was already on thin ice, but the fallout from the incident was the final nail in the coffin.
“Carina and I were struggling, but after that aired, there was no going back. I became the villain overnight,” Paul explained.
Paul also accused the production team of manipulating events through selective editing, saying his “true character was left on the cutting room floor.”
“They showed the worst two minutes of me, and left out the weeks where I was nothing but supportive and genuine. That edit destroyed me.”
Fans of the show remain divided. While some still criticize his actions, others have offered sympathy, suggesting reality TV can be a brutal machine when the cameras stop rolling.
As for Paul’s future? The groom says he’s focusing on rebuilding his life away from the spotlight and hopes to clear his name once and for all.
“I’m not perfect, but I know I’m not who the world thinks I am. I’m finally telling my side.”
