NBA legend Paul Pierce has just dropped a bold take that’s turning heads ahead of the Lakers’ potential playoff clash with the Dallas Mavericks and it centers around Luka Dončić.

 

During a recent appearance on Undisputed, Pierce highlighted a matchup scenario that could spell disaster for the Lakers’ title hopes. According to “The Truth,” the Mavericks hold a defensive trump card the Lakers simply can’t ignore.

 

“If the Mavericks face the Lakers, Luka’s not going to have the easy ride people think. Dallas has two guys who could guard him,” Pierce emphasized, pointing directly at the dynamic defensive duo of Derrick Jones Jr. and PJ Washington.

Dončić, known for making even elite defenders look helpless, has been on a tear this season, but Pierce believes the combination of length, athleticism, and versatility from Jones and Washington gives Dallas a rare advantage. “They have the size and quickness to make him uncomfortable, and if Luka can’t be Luka, the Lakers’ chances improve  but that’s a big ‘if,'” Pierce added.
